Cerelix is a simple yet maddeningly confusing PICO-8 arcade game. The controls are just the two action buttons, Z and X by default. You can try to figure out how things work yourself, or read the full instructions below.

The name is a combination of its inspirations: Helix, the unbelievably original and good iOS arcade game by Michael Brough, and Cerise, who suggested that it would be fun to play minnow while holding down the the S and D keys with your left hand.

Cerelix Rules

Score points by drawing loops around enemies. Collect a complete set of one of each in the slots in the upper right for bonus points.

The green arrow shows two directions that the ship is constantly trying to move. Holding Button 1 inverts the X direction. Holding Button 2 inverts the Y direction.

When you fill the slots, whether you got the bonus or not, they will empty and the arrow direction will change.

That's it!!

Really cool!! Whenever I'm trying to learn the controls I flub, but if I just mess with them for a while they start to feel natural.  Such a strange experience having no middle ground where you get to be "in charge" of the learning.  Reminds me of learning to ride a bike when I was a kid!
